Hello :)
About Mary Formisano
Maria A. Formisano is an innovative artist, designer, and educator/researcher based in London. She creates bespoke origami jewellery and sustainable textiles, exploring transformation, mindfulness, and wellbeing.
With a BA in Fashion Design, an MA in History of Art, and an MA in Textile Design from the University of the Arts London (UAL), Maria combines artistic intuition with technical precision, drawing inspiration from theorists and artists such as Goethe, Delaunay, Newton, and Kandinsky.
Her holistic approach bridges art, science, and wellness, emphasising eco-consciousness and material innovation. She carefully selects papers and sustainable materials, merging structural clarity with environmental responsibility.
Creative Resistance – Mission
My mission is to ignite curiosity, inspire wonder, and foster deep connection through art and design. Every piece, whether a handcrafted origami jewellery sculpture or a sustainable textile artwork, is created with care, intention, and a commitment to transformation.
Creativity nurtures confidence, emotional balance, and personal growth, and that art can serve as a bridge between beauty, mindfulness, and meaning. Through my practice, I aim to offer collectors and admirers experiences and objects that resonate emotionally, spiritually, and aesthetically, celebrating the power of thoughtful, lasting design.
Every piece, course, and collaboration is guided by the principle that nothing is created and nothing is destroyed but everything is transformed, reflecting her dedication to art, science, and wellbeing.
Origami Jewellery Collection
Maria is the creator of the Formisano Origami Jewellery Collection, a handcrafted line of miniature origami sculptures transformed into exquisite jewellery. Each piece is made from premium waterproof papers and sterling silver, blending geometric elegance with playful minimalism.
Every jewellery item is unique, reflecting the concept of transformation and Maria’s philosophy that nothing is created or destroyed, but everything is transformed. Inspired by the art of origami, these pieces are mindfulness in action, combining technical precision, aesthetic beauty, and tactile engagement.
The collection is designed for collectors and admirers who value craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and emotional resonance, offering objects that are not only visually striking but also carry a deeper narrative and sensory experience.
Art & Wellbeing
Maria leads creative sessions for adults and children, including participants with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Through mindfulness-based art therapy, tactile methods such as origami, and immersive material exploration, she helps participants stimulate their senses, regulate emotions, and connect deeply with their creativity.
Her sessions are designed to be inclusive, nurturing, and transformative, allowing participants to express themselves, build confidence, and experience emotional balance through hands-on creative practice.
Whether through sustainable textiles, origami jewellery, or mindful art activities, Maria’s work aims to create meaningful experiences, fostering wellbeing, personal growth, and emotional connection.
